Bashundhara Eye Hospital
he Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute started eye operations of poor patients for free on Friday.
This noble act was preceded by a Dua Mahfil held at the conference hall of the hospital located at Sabrina Sobhan Road in Bashundhara Residential Area under Baridhara.
The prayer was led by Mufti Enamul Haque and attended by Bashundhara high officials, physicians and others.
Bashundhara Group Deputy Managing Director Eng. Abul Kalam Shamim, Adviser (Press and Media) Mohammad Abu Tayeb, President of Vision Care Foundation Prof Md Saleh Ahmed and others were present at the inaugural function.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Md Saleh Ahmed said they started different types of eye operations of 48 patients including 26 male and 22 female at the institute on Friday.
Of the patients, 33 were suffering from mature age related cataracts, 12 from pterygium and three from dacryo cysto rhinostomy (DCR), he said. He hoped that the patients will get back their vision within 24 hours after the operation and return home.
A total of 2,000 poor patients received treatment from a free eye camp organised by Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute at Daudkandi in Comilla. Of the patients, 48 were taken to the institute in the capital for eye operation.
An on-the-spot visit showed that eighty year old Monu Sharker waiting for operation at the hospital. Hailing from Nurpur village of Daudkandi, he came to the hospital to get his right eye operated. Earlier, he had an operation on his left eye.
He praised the hospital authority for providing him with treatment for free and giving him an opportunity to see the world.
Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute is a modern and non-profit eye hospital established recently by Bashundhara Group in collaboration with Vision Care Foundation, Bangladesh.
The hospital has been providing treatment to outpatients from April, 2014 with huge modern diagnostic facilities. It is in possession of one of the state-of-the art eye operation theaters in Bangladesh.
