The government has achieved generating capacity of electricity to 10700MW as of December 2014, Massive Capacity expansion plan has been taken to add about 10500MW Generation Capacity in next 5 years to achieve 24000MW Capacity with the aim to provide with affordable electricity to all of the people of the Country. Development of Renewable Energy is one of the important strategies adopted as a part of Fuel Diversification Program.The renewable energy Policy envisions that 5% of total energy production will have to be achieved by 2015 and 10% by 2020. The share of renewable energy exceeds more than 1% now. The Government is committed to facilitate both public and private sector investment in Renewable Energy projects.
The Company has taken up the following projects :
1. 30MW Solar Power Plant at Gangachora, Rangpur. (in pipeline)
2. 100MW Solar Power Plant at Sirajgonj (in pipeline)
3. 200KW Solar Minigrid at Nijum Deep (Under Construction).
