Bangla Academy
Bangla Academy is an autonomous institution. Established by govt. of Bangladesh to nourish the language of Bangla. Bangla Academy is also responsible to foster National language policy, literature, and culture. This institute started its journey in 1955 from the ground of Dhaka University and Suhrawardy Udyan. The famous Ekushey book fair is hosted by Bangla Academy annually.Linguist Muhammad Shahidullah influenced and emphasized establishing this organization. After the Language movement (27 April 1952), the All Party National Language Committee determined to demand an organization for the promotion of the Bengali language. after a long strangle On 3 December 1955, the Chief Minister of East Bengal Abu Hussain Sarkar inaugurated the institute and Barkatullah was the Special Officer in charge. Later on, Muhammad Enamul Haque was the first director in 1956.
